Overview of the Future Ready Academy 2018 Cohort
The DSD Professional Development team has joined with the OSRC and The Future Ready Classroom Foundation to provide a learning opportunity for Ohio schools to learn how to implement future ready skills into the classroom setting through workshops, onsite coaching, and online learning modules. The Future Ready Academy will showcase how to transition classrooms to prepare the students for college, career, and citizenship by providing unique learning opportunities that integrate technology, hands-on learning activities, and just in time mini lessons from the teachers. Price for the Future Ready Academy 2018 Cohort
The price for the Future Ready Academy 2018 Cohort is $3,995 per five educators. A school can send up to five people to participate in the three workshops, online modules, and onsite coaching sessions. To send more than five participants, the additional cost would be $250.00 per additional person.

- Three six-hour workshops in Columbus, Ohio
- Six online modules that will depend the understanding and implementation process of the future ready skills within a classroom setting
- Two in person coaching sessions at your school
- 30 Gifted and Training hours per person that attends the workshops, participates in the online courses, and meets with our coaching staff twice throughout the school year.
- Membership to the Future Ready Classroom Foundation website and resources
- Additional travel cost may occur for schools that are outside of Ohio. *

Future Ready Academy Agenda and Objectives
Participants in the Future Ready Academy will be asked to participate in, two face-to-face workshops, two onsite coaching sessions, online learning modules, and ongoing discussion about how to implement the future ready skills into the school district, school, and classroom. The Future Ready Academy will provide optional virtual meetings once a month to talk about strategies, ideas, and time to share what is working in the future ready classroom. Along with the virtual session, the participants will also have the chance to learn from future ready teachers, administrators, and professors during the workshops, on-site coaching, and Twitter chats. Regardless, this self-paced course will provide quality content that will walk any educator through the process of how to implement the future ready methodologies through the three phases of blended learning.
Course objectives: The participants in the Future Ready Academy course will be able to
Understand the importance and definition of being Future Ready
Create sample lesson plans that incorporate creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and global connectedness
Collaborate with other educators on how to deploy project-based learning, 20% time, genius hour, and problem-based learning into the classroom
Providing learning opportunities where the students take ownership of his/her learning targets
Explore how growth mindset is an essential key to becoming future ready
Develop a technology toolbox of resources to use within the future ready learning environment
Virtual Meetings: Every Tuesday at 6:00 pm (EST) through the Zoom Link provided during registration
Twitter Chats: Every Tuesday at 9:00 pm through the #futurereadyclassroom

Workshop 1: Introduction to the Future Ready Classroom (6 hours)
Workshop1 and Module 1 will start out with the three vital elements to constructing a future-ready learning environment through the deployment of the blended learning structure. The essential keys include having a vision, use of time, and generating a support system. Developing a concept of blended learning comprises understanding the definition of blended learning and taking time to redesign the learning environment. Use of time explores how to get started and generating a Phase 1 lesson plan. Finally, setting up a support system through the online community, Twitter, or with onsite colleagues helps to round out the critical essential parts of starting blended learning.
Virtual Mini Lesson with the facilitator- explore the three key essentials to implementing blended learning through classroom examples, lesson plan examples, and deployment plans.

Project 1: Redesign the learning space

Online Module 2: Phase 1 of Blended Learning (6 hours)
Module 2 will explore how to develop and deploy a Phase 1 lesson plan. By breaking apart a traditional lesson plan into four areas, the educator will be able to use a Phase 1 lesson plan within any classroom setting
Virtual Mini Lesson with the facilitator - explore the four parts of a blended learning lesson. Examine example Phase 1 lesson plans in elementary, middle, and high school learning environments.

Online Module 3: Developing Growth Mindset (6 hours)
Module 3 will examine the importance of developing a growth mindset within the learning environment. Not only is having a growth mindset necessary for the teacher but also for the learners. The learners will need to examine what it means to have a growth mindset especially when the power of learning is transferred for the teacher to the learner.
Virtual Mini Lesson with the facilitator - exploring the importance of implementing growth mindset techniques in a blended learning classroom. Defining roadblocks that are set up by students, educators, and school districts and how to work on the barriers with the growth mindset approach.
