Often times, we forget that when the classroom teacher makes changes to the classroom pedagogy or environment that it is essential to share the "Why" with the students. Over the last couple of months, I have been asked by a couple of school districts to generate a video about blended learning that can be shared with the students. The video below will walk the students through seven commonly asked questions that relate to blended learning. What is blended learning? Why does my classroom look different? What are the learning studios? How can I get all of the learning studios completed in a class period? Why only ten minutes? When can I work at my own pace? When can we get started? Feel free to share the video with your students and parents. This is an excellent video to explain Blended Learning to students. OK to share with my SouthWest Tech Integration Leaders of Ohio group? Would you consider presenting remotely at one of our upcoming meetings?

I think this is a great basic starting point for what blended learning is and the reasoning behind it.

Hi Marcia! You did an in-service with my school, Revere Local Schools, on our last day of school in June. I have been reading, researching, watching, and trying to wrap my brain around how I can implement this in the fall. What I am still confused about now is what my kids will do in the hybrid blended learning environment that we are pursuing because of COVID 19. When that B group is home, are they "tuning in" for class at a scheduled time to learn -with those who are at school on Monday -virtually through a zoom? Or, are they doing independent virtual learning on their own to prep for what they will learn at school on Tuesday? I am a bit confused and feel like I can't move forward with plan A for Sept. because of that. Can you clarify? I appreciate it. Thank you!

What a great video to introduce Blended Learning to our Middle School Students. I believe that this video could also be used during Open House to explain Blended Learning to our parents. It can also be used to explain blended learning to the teachers in our building who are not using Blended Learning yet. This video would give all stakeholders the same verbiage when discussing Blended Learning with our students.

It is important to communicate with the students about the details and experiences of Blended. This will help with their comfort level and adjustments to a different model and mode of learning.

This video is a very simple and clear breakdown of what blended learning is, how it will be introduced, and how it will be developed once they get used to phase one. I think this greta way to familiarize students with blended learning and get their buy in.

Everyone feels more comfortable and gives better buy-in when they are informed about the what, the how, and the why. The video for students and parents is a simple way to accomplish this. I think explaining about why the classroom looks different and how I can get all of my learning studios completed are especially important. I think it would also work well in a whole staff setting for a campus about to move to blended learning.

I really like the way these questions were presented with student friendly language. The questions were answered so the students understand the why of all the changes being made, that way the students can value what they are doing in the classroom. I also feel like this video would be great to share with parents, so they can understand what is happening in the classroom as well.

This is a great video not only to explain to students what blended learning is, but also parents. However, I feel that for younger elementary students they may need to see more visuals about what the studios may look like; even though they may not realize their classroom is any different than another one.
